If You Only Hear ONE Thing On Mother's Day, I Hope It Is THIS!

(Disclaimer: Before you read this, I want to you know that you don't have to believe this to belong in the I Am Mother of the Year group. You're part of the tribe of awesome mamas -- no matter what!)

Guys, I had a real encounter with Jesus this week. During a run through my neighborhood. To some of you that might sound totally crazy, and to others it may sound sort of normal, but listen. My soul was stirred (and my tear ducts extra lazy) as I ran and asked God what our Radio Theology listeners needed to hear Mother’s Day morning. (For those of you who may not know, I co-host a Sunday morning radio show about faith, hope and love on Indy's Number One Top 40/Pop station…pretty cool!)

Especially because Mother’s Day isn’t always a celebration if you’re going through something painful.

This is what I heard God say: I am with you. It was this beautiful moment of me running (creating the space for clear thinking and mind wandering), asking, listening, and being totally taken aback that I felt this phrase impressed upon me so clearly. I am with you. I am with HER.

So with that in mind, our team created this reminder for all of us. No matter who you are and what situation you’re in, there is hope because God is with you.

Read on, friend. You just might be in here somewhere!

If you want to be a mom more than anything, but it just hasn’t happened and you’re losing hope.

               God is with you.

If that pregnancy that you had hoped and prayed for ended, and the grief has buried you.

               God is with you.

If you went to the hospital and came home without a baby, and no one understands what you’re going through.

               God is with you.

If you’re fostered babies that you hoped would one day be yours, only to have them reunited with their birth parents.

               God is with you.

If you’re a mom of young kids, and feel like you’re drowning in chaos and diapers.

               God is with you.

If your plan was to meet a guy, get married, and start a family. But now you’re raising kids alone.

               God is with you.

Or if your marriage ended, so now you’re co-parenting -- missing your kids 3 days a week.

               God is with you.

If this is the first Mother’s Day you’re celebrating without your mom, and you’re wondering if you can get through today.

               God is with you.

Or if you lost your mom long ago, but the pain still feels fresh.

               God is with you.

If your first baby is getting ready to graduate high school, and you feel overwhelmed.

               God is with you.

Or if your last baby is filling out college applications across the country and you can’t even fathom him a plane ride away from you.

               God is with you.

If you feel mom guilt more than mom joy.

               God is with you.

If you’re worrying all night, instead of sleeping.

               God is with you.

If you’re lonely, if you’re stuck, if you feel like a failure.

               God is with you.

If you feel like you’ve lost your purpose and life is passing you by.

               God is with you.

If you long to be more than just your motherhood.

               God is with you.

I hope you believe it today! I also hope your significant others read my blog about what you really wanted for Mother’s Day and totally nailed it!

Celebrate yourself today and every day, because not only are you Mother of the Year, you’re known and loved by the Creator of the Universe.
